Literally meaning the anchor of gold but known as O Piolho (the Louse), Âncora d'Ouro is a charming little café with a long history.
Packed with students, tourists and locals and adjunct to the Faculty of Sciences, this café is full and lively all day long. Being the third oldest café in Porto, it boasts an impressive history including its being the meeting place for those who were unfavoured by the fascist regime in Porto.
The clientele is mainly students which explain why the prices are relatively low and the atmosphere very casual.
