Rua Santa Catarina is an amazingly long car-less street with plenty of shops. On the street, you can find almost anything: clothes, shoes, jewelry and music; as well as some other bits and pieces in the stalls and little shops placed along the street.

The nice thing about Santa Catarina Street is the combination between the big international names, such as Zara or Mango, on the one hand, and little, more traditional, local shops, on the other. The question is if you walk down the main street with the big names and the convenient four level shopping mall, or if you take a detour and walk around the smaller streets, exploring the more intimate and local shopping experience in Porto. The prices of the goods vary, some are really good value while others are way overpriced. Compare the prices of international brands with the prices you get back home, to figure out if it's a good price.

To quench your thirst or hunger, there are numerous cafés and restaurants on the street and around.
