The Tower of Clerigos offers one of the most spectacular views of Porto and the Douro River.
The plans for the tower were made by the famous Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni, who also designed the adjoining Clerigos Church. Some claim that the Clerigos Church's architecture manifests Nasoni's unique concept of space. The church's impressive Rococo interior décor and its adornments are also notable.
Nevertheless, the Clerigos Tower is the main attraction here. The tower is one of the tallest in the north of Portugal, its height 75.60 meters, (that is indeed high by any standard). Only 250 steps come between you and the stunning view of Porto and the Douro River.
