The Museum of Modern Art in Porto presents the work of Portuguese and International artists from the 1960's and until today.

The Museum of modern art in Porto holds a wide selection of works created by acclaimed artists from Portugal and around the world. The permanent exhibition includes some very interesting works by artists such as: Gerhard Richter, Dan Graham, Mário Merz, Dennis Oppenheim, Richard Tuttle, Fernando Calhau and Ana Hatherly, amongst many other talented artists. However, the best part of the museum - as is the case with many other contemporary art museums - is the temporary exhibitions rather than the permanent ones.

Nearby the museum is the Casa de Serravles, a unique Art Deco building in which the museum's temporary exhibitions take place. The house was completed in 1940 according to the final plans given by the Portuguese architect, Marques da Silva.

The museum is located in the centre of the wide 44 acre Serravles Park which boasts some of the most exquisite rose gardens in Portugal. The park is open to visitors daily 10:00-19:00, but closed on Mondays. On the premises you'll find a charming Tea House in the gardens and a museum restaurant, which visitors claim is very worthwhile.
