The National Youth Hostel in Porto may not be in the center of things, but it has a nice location, a generally friendly staff, and many other young (penniless?) travellers like you.

You'll experience a pleasant and easy going atmosphere, on the whole. Make sure you inquire about rooms before arriving, especially during the summer and on holidays.
